Resident Commissioner is Committed to Working for Canóvanas

CANÓVANAS, Puerto Rico- The Resident Commissioner, Pedro Pierluisi, today visited the municipality of Canóvanas and met with Mayor Jose “Chemo” Soto, with whom he discussed various proposed and current municipal projects that could be completed with federal funding.

Accompanied by Senator Lornna Soto, Congressman Pierluisi and Mayor Soto visited the plot of land where the Mayor wants to build Coliseum Ramón Ramos and a running track. The officials also visited the Cambalache Bridge on Road 962, an area that is vulnerable to flooding.

“Today the Mayor and I had the opportunity to discuss our shared vision for the Municipality. “Chemo” has many ideas and there are many projects that are moving forward in Canóvanas. He can count on my full support to ensure that the Municipality continues to progress,” said the Resident Commissioner.

Among various other social, housing and infrastructure projects, the Mayor is working diligently to install underground electrical lines in downtown Canóvanas, to purchase several “trolleys,” and to replace the Rio Canóvanas bridge.

Pierluisi has visited most of Puerto Rico’s 78 municipalities—Canóvanas is his 67th—as part of his initiative to learn firsthand about the needs of the constituents and communities that he represents in the Congress.
